VHT VHT, Roll Bar & Chassis Paint, Gloss, Black, 11-oz

I’ve used Appliance Epoxy paint for 10 years because its the most durable thing I could find. Its so nice to now find Epoxy paint in Satin, which matches the look of Chassis paint so much better.

I've used a lot of different paint products over the years, this is terrible. It's a very thin lacquer binder and fast dry solvent with poor coverage because of the lack pigment (so called ceramics). Shake the can all you want, it won't matter. With near perfect temperature and humuidity, pristine prep on bare steel and as directed on the instructions, it took over three coats to get a "light-bronze" with gloss black paint! Six coats before it was opaque and black. Fill-in was terrible on tiny imperfections (used a control plate with three sanding grits). Forget the instructions, shoot it close and fast, else it textures. PRIMER IS A MUST! This product although it states it is self priming is completely false. Do not use their recommended 320 grit (maroon), use ~600 because it won't fill well. End results of 12-14 coats each with three different items: super thin paint and difficult to get that last glossy coat. It doesn't appear to be any more durable than other acrylic enamels. Note that EPOXY is a stretch, unless you consider the chemical resins used as general epoxiates. Curing Epoxy paints are good to +400F, this stuff is much lower because it's a low-end polymer. Observing the over-spray areas (kraft paper and mask tape) , it is brittle and SUPER THIN. I was shocked how thin the paint overspray areas were, giving how much was sprayed on them. It's all solvent! As such there will be little if any impact resistance or scratch resistance. Verified by tearing the paper and observing. In-use is yet to be determined. I have used their wheel paints with better results, but this stuff is awful and borders on dishonest.
