As Advertised, Quality Product
Replacement for worn out OEM parts. No installation instructions were included but with a little common sense, it was not that difficult to figure out. The only issue were the retention clips and how they were to be removed. After looking at the new lift, a small flat blade screwdriver was all that was needed. They need to be replaced in pairs because one will not support the weight. Some means of holding the tailgate while you install the lift is required. The tailgate will also need to be extended to accommodate the lift extension for installation because compressing the lift strut is much too difficult.

Not a perfect fit for a 97 Chevy Tahoe
So today I just bought a set of these Strong Arm lift support struts from the website and picked up at my local Advanced Auto Parts store and when I went to install them they were way too long even though the website shows that they are a perfect fit for my 97 Tahoe. So I found out that the exact size lift support struts are 4650 from Strong Arm not the C4557. So I took them back and also found out that they don't carry the 4650 so I had to order a different brand of lift supports that won't come in until tomorrow and pray and hope these other ones are the exact size for my 97 Tahoe.

Easy Installation

Bought 2 to replace as a pair. The first, one installed easily with the ends pre-aligned by the factory to match the mount points on the lift gate and body frame. The ends on the second lift support were not aligned by the factory and was close to 60 degrees out of alignment. The piston was frozen solid and could not be turned to align it. I took it back to the store and they tried to twist piston end into alignment but it did not move. They exchanged it for another one which we could twist to align easily. Both installed in just a few minutes (needed a small screwdriver to release the clips on the old lifts) and work great. Only 4 stars as one was returned as defective.

Easy to install. Just use a flat head screw driver to pry the clip up/off on the old strut and they come right off the ball. Then you can just tap the new ones on with your hand or rubber mallet. The clip design is spherical so as you apply force the clip will spread out and eventually pop over the ball. There is no need to pry the clip out for installation - just removal.
