Not a good product
I would not recommend this product to be used around the house where pets or children are. The ethylene glycol in the product is highly toxic and is not safe. I have just lost a patient that accidentally ingested the product and she developed renal failure as a result.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

This Cleaner is OK

This is a fairly strong degreaser, but it does not perform better than straight mineral sprits (i.e. conventional paint thinner). The Purple Power advantage is that it's water-soluable, making it a bit more environmentally safe than petroleum-based & fluorocarbon-based solvents. I suspect that the active ingredient in this stuff is simply NaOH (Soduim Hydroxide), but the label does not indicate any ingredient. If that is it, then the pricing is definitely attractive against competing NaOH-based products.

blownhead gasket clean up wit purple pow
had a blown headgasket on a 99 dodge v6(all cast iron).the engine had been ran for some time and was left with a residue that almost had a vasaline consistancy and filled the entire engine. we mixed some cheap oil and purple power at about 50/50 and poured in into motor.put plug and old filter back in and ran it for about an hour.this caused the truck to become a fogger. drained the oil leaving drain plug out and took filter off, turned it over 5 x 45 sec.put cheap 30w back in and ran it for another 30 min and repeated process. gave it official oil change and ran it off and on for a day.changed oil again.worked
