The Inside Diameter (ID) measurement accepts the same size Outside Diameter (OD) Pipe/Tubing, while the Outside Diameter (OD) measurement fits into the same size Inside Diameter (ID) Muffler/Tubing.

2 1/2 inch pipe 18 in long
Pipe has a 2 1/2 ID on the side that looks expanded and the balance of the pipe is 2 1/2 OD. This makes it a good choice if you need to make an adapter. I used it to connect 2 - 2 1/2 ID peices together by cutting a section off the 2 1/2 OD part then used the balance of the pipe to extend my tail pipe out furter from the vehicle body. (Tough to get the right parts for a 84 Dodge pickup truck cheap)
