Great plug

Was time to replace plugs on my wife's Mercedes ML430, needed a platinum plug, takes 16 plugs. Shopped between Bosch, Denso, and NGK - ended up getting NGK. Never had a problem with these plugs in the past or the other brands mentioned, just came down to price. Some people get carried away with spending more money than needed on plugs, just a maintenace item that will improve performance if changed regulary but will not change your vehicle into something it's not.

"Pre-gapped" a misnomer

NGK brand spark plugs are good spark plugs and are the recommended brand for both 2005 Kias I own (Sedona EX and Rio Base). However, while a seemingly big deal is made by Autozone tech commentators about spark plugs being "pre-gapped" by the manufacturer, what they either fail to realize, or plain don't know (those are the ones to need to go to WalMart and apply for a job instead of any automotive parts store!) is that, during shipping from the manufacturer to the reatail warehose and thence to the individual stores, the spark plugs slide around in their individual packaging, are dropped, shaken, etc. which can very well change (narrow) the preset gap by the manufacturer. I have found the actual variance of pregapped plugs to be as much as 0.05 betweeen manufacturer spec and what I recieved from the store. Customers should ALWAYS be advised to "double check" the gap prior to installation, although most GOOD mechanics alredy know and practice this as a habit.

Nice Plugs, great value

The part looks well constructed. The gaps were slightly off on a couple plugs, but gaps should always be checked before installation. The engine runs smooth, but then again I never let the engine tune deteriorate to the point of poor gas mileage or rough running. The auto maufacturer recommends changing plugs at five years regardless of mileage.I've always found that NGK are excellent plugs. The price is very reasonable, very satisfied at this point.
