Fix-A-Thred Metric Coarse Thread Repair Kit For Stripped Or Worn Threads

Broke my Intake which is now $600 to replace.

I used this kit to repair a stripped thread for an intake bolt. It worked perfectly.

Only an idiot could screw it up!

Needed to re-thread an aluminum manifold bolt hole. Have used heli-coil and others in past. Those products are expensive but they work. This product is equally expensive but does not work well at all. Insert tool is flimsy and the tangs bend when trying to coax the insert into the tapped bore. Once in place, the insert is either too small or too large as neither a metric or SAE will thread easily onto the insert. At the end of the day the plastic handle was stripped out and the tangs bent. Whole tool now useless. Stick with the brand name products.

The plastic handle is weak, and isn't strong enough to turn the tap - I stripped out the handle while cutting threads in soft aluminum. When installing the new threads and trying to break the tang - the metal used here was very weak too and practically self destructed on first use. All in all, this is cheaply made and not worth it. After the first use, this kit is no longer useable.
