This stuff works awesome!
Can't say enough how well this product works. Soaked a couple old rusty cast iron pulleys over night and the next morning they looked like the day they were manufactured. They didn't look like they had their rust removed/restored, they looked like they never had it. No wire brush marks, no grinding marks, just raw looking gray cast iron. I soaked a small engine carburetor that was all rusted inside from the shaft and butterfly valve that wouldn't budge. Came out like new, shaft moves freely rust gone from the inside without needing to disassemble it.

It Worked For Me

I needed to recondition the chrome legs on a 1970 Pinball machine that had significant surface rust. I built a tray from sheet metal to allow me to submerge the 32" legs (one at a time). I called the Customer Service number on Evapo-Rust container to find out what I could seal the corners of the tray with and they told me anything. I used pop rivets and "DAP Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone" to seal the rivets & seams of tray. Directions said to submerge rusted parts for 1 to 12 hrs. It took 24 hrs/leg but legs turned out great. On the 3rd leg the Evapo-Rust solution turned milky brown and tray started leaking. Evapo-Rust apparently attacked the caulking and caulking now had the consistency of mustard. I called Evapo-Rust back and told them what happened and asked what I could seal the tray with ... they said they would check and call back but never did. After cleaning out caulking I re-sealed everything with "Seal-All", also available at auto part stores. It is gas and oil resistant and it held for me to finish the last two legs ... and seemed to still be in great shape. Even though the Evapo-Rust now looked milky brown it still continued to work great on the last 2 legs. Great product but disappointed with the Evapo-Rust Customer Service. Pic is of one leg in the tray I built.

Received a good recommendation from a fellow auto restorer, so purchased product based on his advice. Should work out well, as he is very informed.

Very effective!
I have used EvapoRust to restore corroded parts, such as turbochargers, electric motors, transmission shafts and gears; as well as antique iron items that needed to be dismantled. After soaking in EvapoRust, the frozen assemblies can be taken apart without breaking. This product will remove rust from inside the assemblies. It is highly effective on anything which can be dipped and soaked in it. It is not effective on flat surfaces such as car bodywork. This product will not work if it is cold. Recommend setting up a heat lamp on the soaking container for most effective overnight rust removal. Don't let the "this is very safe" notice on the jug make you think it is watered down. It will leave nothing but bare, clean cast iron or steel.
