Carquest Standard Brake Pads: Semi-metallic, Long Life and Quiet

Hello,If your a "CAR GUY" then you already clean your stainless steel hardware with a brass bristle brush and grease the pins/slides etc.However if your a newbie dont buy these because they are cheap.they dont come with new hardware somyour going to have to remive and clean/grease your hardware and pin/slides. I have a 2000 GMC SIERRA WORK TRUCK and the t-55 TORX socket is a must,so if you havent checked your calipers make sure you have that socket if you have a GMC/chevy (T-55 TORX socket 3/8 or 1/2" drive) i used an electric impact with the t-55 torx because they are held in with thread locker.These pads stop great for how cheap they are,ivehad them on a month and they do have a squeak which goes away once they get hot after some driving. I DID BREAK THEM IN and i greased/cleaned all of the stainless steel hardware as well.Remember its cheaper to order online and pick them up in store,you save alot on all your parts this way so call ahead to make sure its in stock.Buy zip ties to hold your calipers up and away bu zip tieing them to suspension while you use both hands to pry hardware out to clean.This is all you need if you buy these pads.Good luck,go slow! ;)

Had to buy these brakes on a Sunday as my normal supplier was closed. The included hardware that should be replaced was terrible. It was so bad that after doing the left side and starting the right side, I cleaned up the old hardware (which was stainless steel BTW) in my parts washer and re-used it. Then, I took the left side apart again, got the old hardware out of the trash, cleaned it up and put it back on. Too bad. The pads are probably O.K. but the poor quality hardware ruins the deal.
