You get what you pay for
This is VW standard joint clamp. Aluminized steel rusts if your community uses salt or sand on the roads. Coated steel rusts slower than uncoated but it is inferior to 300-series stainless steel. The bolt and nut are not aluminized: they rust and provide the drawback - eventually they rust through. Ask for an all stainless clamp or make your own with two pieces of 16-gauge stainless sheet and two stainless steel band clamps.

Last about 3 yrs in southern New England weather. Replaced 3 yrs ago with same part and corrosion caused failure. Wish they offered a stainless steel version.
