Akebono ProAct Ultra Premium Ceramic Brake Pads - Front

Unlike a lot of replacement pads I have used throughout the years, these pads dropped right in and fit the same as the OEM pads. Pad feel is linear with little of no fade on heavy braking. Would not recommend for trackday pads (not enough bite), but would for everyday and/or occasional hard driving.

The pads are high quality but do not stack up to OEM for braking performance. Initial bite is lower and these pads require additional pedal pressure to achieve the same braking effect as the OEM pads they replaced. I will adjust to the difference but would have preferred the same or better braking performance. One more issue I had was that the anti rattle shims that I had to reuse from the OEM pads did not fit the replacement pads. I had to bend the clips on the shims to make them fit which is what the instructions say to do. I would have wanted to have the new pads come with these shims or at least to have had a better fit with the OEM shims.The rotors are OEM so this was not a variable in the comparison. On the positive side the pads themselves were a great fit and I was able to cross reference the part numbers against the OEM on Akebonos web site. Given my 2005 G35 (6MT sport package) has different size front pads compared to other years and sub-models, it was comforting knowing that this was the correct part. The brakes are extremely low dusting and have eliminated the squeal that had developed with my old pads (OEM with 55K miles). I also expect these to have a long life span. I have had these on my vehicle for ~700 miles with no issues. Next time around I will consider a slightly more aggressive pad but will have to accept potentially more dusting and shorter pad / rotor life.
